Support and training

Process 1

You’ll never foster alone

We’re proud that 97% of our foster carers stay with us—and they consistently tell us it’s because they feel supported, listened to, and prepared for whatever comes their way.

Here’s what they value most:

Your own dedicated social worker

From practical advice to emotional support, your Supervising Social Worker is there for you every step of the way. Expect regular check-ins, training updates, and a friendly voice whenever you need one. Nothing is off the table—you can talk to us about anything.

24/7 out-of-hours support

No matter the time of day, you’ll never be left on your own. Our team is just a phone call away whenever you need urgent advice or reassurance.

Peer-to-peer support from fellow carers

You’ll be part of a strong, welcoming fostering community. Whether it’s our Buddy Scheme, WhatsApp groups, or coffee mornings, you’ll have the chance to connect, share, and support one another.

Planned short breaks

Everyone needs a breather sometimes. That’s why we offer respite care when you need time to rest, recharge, or take a holiday—guilt-free.

Membership to The Fostering Network

As one of our carers, you’ll receive free membership to the UK’s leading fostering charity—giving you access to training, expert advice lines, legal support, discounts, resources, and national events.

Blue Light Card benefits

As a thank you for the incredible work you do, you’ll be eligible for a Blue Light Card—unlocking savings across high street shops, restaurants, and attractions.

“I’ve had a great first year of fostering. I’ve felt supported by every professional I’ve worked with and thank Mandy for all her support and encouragement over the last few months of her being my SSW and Lucy for her support at the start.”

Training That Makes a Difference

98% of our foster carers would recommend our training to others.

Whether you’re just starting out or have years of experience, our training programme is designed to help you feel confident, informed and capable in your role.

During your application

We’ll guide you through a three-day preparation course before you’re approved. It covers the essentials of fostering, including:

  • Why children come into care
  • The impact of trauma and how to respond
  • Communication skills and behaviour strategies
  • Real-life scenarios and interactive exercises

This training lays the foundation for a successful fostering journey and helps you feel fully prepared before your first placement.
